Do I pay a public adjuster up front?

Any legitimate public adjuster will not be paid until the policyholder is paid. Your public adjuster will have a personal interest in seeking a fair settlement for you, because they will receive a percentage of the settlement amount as payment for their services. This keeps them motivated to protect your interests instead of the interests of the insurance company.

If the public adjuster is unsuccessful in negotiating a settlement with the insurance company on your behalf, you will not owe them any money. This is a rare outcome, but it has been known to happen.
