What is a public adjuster?

A public adjuster is a licensed claims adjuster who works on behalf of the policyholder to seek a fair settlement for their insurance claim. They do not work for the insurance company. The normal duties of a public adjuster include assessing the damage reported in the claim and negotiating a fair settlement with the insurer.

Public adjusters can assist policyholders at any point in the claims process. They can file the initial claim or assist with an appeal of a denied claim. Public adjusters are normally hired to handle high-value claims. Policyholders have a higher success rate with claims when they hire a public adjuster to assist them.
